About The Department
Department of English: A Profile
The Department of English has rendered invaluable service to the institution since its inception in 1949. It is a full-fledged department with Major courses introduced in the year 1972. Since 2019, the department has been offering both Core and Non-Core courses for the Bachelor of Arts (English Honours) programme under the CBCS curriculum of Dibrugarh University. Courses under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) of Dibrugarh University as per the New Education Policy recommendations are being introduced from the 2023-24 session. With the declaration of the college as an Autonomous College by the UGC, the department introduced both the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) in English programmes, under the relevant guidelines, in 2024. At present, the department has six regular and two contractual faculty members.
